The most frequent camera issues we see in Bali are: a blurry or out-of-focus main camera (usually caused by the optical image stabilisation gyroscope being damaged from a drop), a completely black camera view (lens assembly or camera connector issue), cracked camera glass (common from minor drops — the lens cover glass sits slightly proud of the phone body), and front camera failures that prevent Face ID from functioning.

Rear camera vs front camera repairs

Rear camera repairs typically involve replacing the rear camera module, which on modern iPhones includes the wide, ultrawide, and telephoto lenses as an assembly. We can replace the full assembly or individual lens modules depending on which component is at fault, which affects the price. Rear camera repair takes 30-45 minutes.

Front camera repairs are generally simpler in terms of components but require more careful disassembly because the front camera shares a cable with Face ID's infrared sensor array. We handle this with care to ensure Face ID continues working after the repair.

Cracked camera lens glass

Many people think a cracked camera glass means the camera module itself is broken. Often it is just the protective glass over the lens that has cracked. Replacing this glass alone — without touching the camera module — is a cheaper and faster repair. We assess which component needs replacing and quote accordingly.

Bali-specific camera damage patterns

Scooter drops are the most common cause of camera damage in Bali. A phone dropped onto asphalt at 40 km/h from scooter handlebars typically shatters the camera glass and can displace the OIS gyroscope inside the module.
